Kort julbrev till Erin Thomas
Greetings Princess
Not sure where to start but as always I enjoy your conversation even if you are driving home for Christmas and I am in Härnösand trying to find a few words over the phone. Well its now 22.15 and as I told you I will put on the telly and chuck in a DVD of the old classic movie Gooooooodmorning Vietnam. Speaking of Wars and choices made by men in charge – I hope for the sake of the almighty that we get a new and fresh president next time around. I will put my cold cash on Obama and if this Huckebee then I think we are all doomed. He makes George Jr look like a non-believer. Speaking of politics. Here in my little town we have 26-23 mandates in the City Council in favour of the Democrats. Thas a good thing if you ask me.
You asked me what I have been up to. I know I speak way to much about myself but quickly I have been working for the American company Grand Circle Travel from April to September. It was brilliant to show old blue haired ladies from Florida around the Scandinavian peninsula. After that finshed I have been designing and working a bit with the “multifuctiondeckofcards” that I have named Cardo. It is just a simple page on the web under the name www.cardo.nu but it is only in Swedish but a new one will be finished in late January. It is a mix between information, knowledge and play. They are printed in Krakow and Polen for 3 dollars each and I sell them for 15 $. I just tried the market here in my town the last 1 ½ days and sold 200 of them. It’s a good laugh and my next product will be “Bullshitbingo”. It is to simplify it a bingochart but instead of numbers you have words and it can be made very specific for different interests ie music, politics, economics, gossip and I think I will make 7 rows with 7 words and then the user will tick off the word and when you have a row you sceam “BULLSHIT”. It can be handed out before a lecture or meeting. It raises the attention considerably. A laminated A4 page will fit 4 different categories and has a cost of nothing to make and I would like to retail it for 10 $. When it is laminated you can use a pen to mark of the words and the wipe it of and use it again.
That’s the deal. Besides that I have nothing else going on. Well lets me rephrase that, I do odd hours for www.exitours.se and have put together a golfjourney to Sicily in late April as well as a tour with www.hurtigruten.com and a cruise in the medditerrainen later during the summer. I look forward guiding that. I also applied for a work within the prison or actually past-prison where the sentences are “served within the community” and the crocks have to report back to their parollofficer. Guess that would be me. In the best of worlds I would like to work twice a week and 14 hours shift on that.
We have hardly any snow and I am starting to be a believer in the greenhouseeffect and think it was a great nobel peace prize that was handed out to Al Gore. Christmas is coming up and I have been ordered to go up to mom and dad and my sistes and their families otherwise I will be dropped from the will. I actually look forwad to sitting down and do nothing for a few days and also track up some old friends from past times. I have actually been finding some really good mates on Facebook. It is a bit of a hype now but I find it useful from time to time.
The past few months I have changed apartment a few times and this I have now is almost done up and I have not decided if will live here for a while or sell it. I do really enjoy it. It is 4 rooms if you include the kitchen and the kitchen became a good size one after I put down a wall that was a nuisance and then there are new floors put in and a bit of wall paper and paint. That kind of stuff can sometimes make a bit of difference. Around 97 square meters and a small balcony that has sunshine all day during the summer. But since I live on the highest floor I sneak out on the roof and sit there and think from time to time. Prices in Stockholm are crazy when it comes to living but here it is very modest and the rent is 550 $ and I bought if for 15 000 US. Good isn’t it J. I just hade it re-evaluated and I could probably sell it for 50 000 now.
You asked about health and it the physical aspect is allright. The mental part some one else can be the judge of. I think that sometimes I am a bit different from the aaverage Swedes and that can both be good and bad. But most good. I have accepted the eye-thing and it is actually nice to do so in order to move on. “In the country of the blind the one-eyed is the king” I try to have that attitude. Another fellow with attitude is the wonderful dog Pallas that I hang out with. He is a good mate that always wiggles the tail and greets me with love and affection, great to have those around. He just turned 7 and is actually starting to have a few grey stripes in the otherwise black and darkened fur. He has a funny habit to hauwl (like the wolfs) when police and ambulances have their sirens on. He might have developed that habit during his childhood years.
Books and music is a great food for thought as you know, I try to befriend that guitar and is is just basic U2 and Bruce and Dylan. But I think it is an awesome instrument, strange and fascinating that six strings and a wooden box can create joy and legends. There are a fantastic musician named Raul Midon that you have to check out and his song “Pick somebody up” is a musician at his best. When it comes to books I have been flicking through Kunta Kinte and Axel Haleys “Roots”. Then another tip is Michael Ende and his fantastic book “Momo”. Do yourself a favour and pick it up at the closest Barnes & Nobel bookstore. Then you really have to promise me without the shadow of a doubt that you do start to read the fantastic epic story written by multitalented Carl-Johan Vallgren, this book is named “Horrific Sufferings of the Mind-Reading Monster Hercules Barefoot: His Wonderful Love and His Terrible Hatred”. It is truly a masterpice in its making and the stuff legends are made of. I have been reading a fair amount lately and you are never alone with a book.
The radio is now playing a song about some soggy lovestory, personally I think I have given up on the famous romance issue. Seems as if the nice opposite creatures are either occupied or not living the my neighbourhood. I wonder where they are hiding.
Well Erin, I am not going to bore you anymore. I hope Santa will bring you joy and happiness and that our paths will yet again cross, sooner rather than later.
Love
